Book Review: Unfuckwithable - A Guide To Inspired Badassery by Lindsay Manfredi
“It doesn’t matter what your dream is, get it.”
One of the things I’ve been trying to kick off for a while on the site is chatter about books aka book reviews. Due to the pandemic, I’ve been able to make time to read more and I feel that the first book I would talk about here would be a good choice to kick things off with. Unf*ckwithable: A Guide To Inspired Badassery was written by Cold bassist, Lindsay Manfredi, who happened to be the guest for episode 7 of The Keep It Posi Podcast. It was a great conversation and to sum up the book, this one is about perseverance, letting the universe work its magic, and positivity. On a scale of one to ten, I’d give it ten posi points.
There are many points made that stood out to me as reminders. To sum it up (and in my own words hehe), some of them are listed below.
If you mess up, it’s okay to forgive yourself. You can’t keep looking back at your mistakes. What you can do is use positive energy moving forward.
When you forgive others, it’s a way of letting yourself know that you’re ready to move on. Sometimes that may include getting rid of the negative people in your life and that is totally okay. If it will help you stay posi or regain that positivity in your life, then do what you gotta do.
If you want something, you gotta go out there and make things happen aka do the work.
Give and help people, even if there are times you’re not sure if you can. Why? Because your heart will feel full :)
Say yes more even if it scares you. This is a piece of advice that a college professor gave my classmates and I at graduation. Sometimes you never know what will happen when you say yes to opportunities.
The best things will come out of the worst.
“You may not be in your dream job right now. Life isn’t a race to the finish line.”
Take a YOU day where you relax and do whatever it is you want and not have a worry in the world.
Travel as much as possible.
There is so much more discussed in the book and what I loved about it is that it felt like a combination of a memoir and self-help genres. Lindsay provides personal examples and stories for each point that she brings up and how she has been able to apply them in her life.
Even if you’re not much of a reader, I still highly recommend you give this one a chance. Unf*ckwithable: A Guide To Inspired Badassery is available NOW!
