Alternative-pop artist, Camille Peruto, released an album last week titled Perfect Vision! It’s really awesome and is perfect for this fall weather we’re about to have! Camille took some time out of her day to talk about the album, her favorite band to see live, who she would collaborate with if she could, and more! Perfect Vision is out now!

Congratulations on the release of Perfect Vision! It’s a great album! What does this album mean to you?
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you like it. This album is the product of a lot of hard work. I put everything I had into making it. To me, the songs are a story describing my perfect vision of life. It’s all about taking bad situations and seeing the bright side whenever possible, so there is a theme of hope. I feel like the world needs some hope!

What is your favorite song off Perfect Vision?
I love all of the songs we chose, but I am partial to “Pretty on the Outside”. Initially, I went into the studio to record just that song with no intention of making a full album. That song, out of all of the possible new music I had to record, was the one I wanted to start with. After hearing it begin to come together, I made a big decision to record my 3rd full length LP. I guess you could say that “Pretty on the Outside” is the reason a full album is coming!

How did the last year and a half affect the making of the album? Had it not been for what we’ve been through, would the album turned out the way it did?
Great question! I actually wrote quite a few of the songs during that time. In fact, one of the reasons I decided to call the album “Perfect Vision” was because it was half written in 2020 (AKA, perfect vision). It’s a little inside joke I have with some people. So no, without quarantining and forcing myself to sit down and work on music, this album would not be the same at all!

Who has been your favorite band to see live?
I have seen U2 live twice, and they’re amazing. It’s been too long since I’ve gone to a concert.

What instrument do you not play that you hope to learn someday?
I would love to learn keys/piano. I can fake my way around a song but I am no pro. Piano was actually the first instrument I ever took lessons on when I was a child. I just grew out of it quickly since I was young and still feeling out different instruments. I think that if I get a keyboard, it will be very inspiring. That’ll probably be an upcoming purchase!

If you had a chance to collaborate with a musician, dead or alive, who would it be?
I’d have to say any member of The Beatles. Ideally, all 4!

What is your favorite thing about making music?
I’ve always been proud of my melodies! I think that by having catchy hooks in your songs, you can really captivate a listener. Some of my favorite melodies I have written are in my songs “Sparrow” (2013) & “Silver Lining” (2019), and off of Perfect Vision, “Same Song” & “Lay In It”!

How do you stay positive? What helps you?
If I’m ever feeling down, I immediately feel better when I go play a gig. Doing what I love never feels like work. It’s the most amazing job I could ask for. Most people feel upset when they have to go to a job, but luckily, it’s the one thing that can lift my spirits! I end up forgetting about everything else and I just perform to the best of my ability!
