Pop punkers, Loose Ends, released their debut EP, Tell God You Were Framed, earlier this month and it rules! If you’re a fan of Yellowcard, The Story So Far, and/or Neck Deep, this EP is for you! Guitarist, Kyle Durst, took some time to answer some questions about the new EP, his earliest musical memory, who he would interview if he could, and more!

Congratulations on the release of the EP! Since things changed for people due to the pandemic, how was the making of this EP different from other projects?
For most of the making of this, we were all in different states. Most of the tracking was done by Andy and myself in Houston. Bass was tracked and processed in Florida by Matt and vocals were done in north Texas by Geoff Rockwell. This is the first time I’ve collaborated this way. It was a lot of fun waiting to hear what everyone brought to the table.

What is your favorite song off the EP?
Last Call for Moderation. So proud of this one. It’s a total banger and it encapsulates everything that I’ve learned in 20 years about writing and producing in this genre.

What is your earliest musical memory?
Church actually, my interest in playing guitar first sparked in youth groups seeing the older kids play.

Who has been your favorite band to see live?
I’ve had the opportunity to see most of my favorite bands play live, but that doesn’t mean it was the best show. I am going to have to say Enter Shikari. I feel genuine emotion and elation during their shows. I actually proposed to my wife at one of their shows.

If you had a chance to interview any of your musical heroes, who would it be and why?
Tom Delonge – a very inspiring person in more ways than just music. And my first rock hero. I would love to chat with Mark Hoppus as well.
Rou Reynolds – He pours his soul into everything he does and that is incredibly motivating. Would love to pick his brain.

What instrument do you not play that you hope to learn someday?
I would love to be better at piano and drums.

If you were to do a cover set of one artist at a show, who would it be?
MXPX – Specifically The Ever Passing Moment from beginning to end.

What is your favorite thing about making music?
To know that someone somewhere has had any sort of emotional reaction to something I created. Is awesome. Creating isn’t a want, it’s a need. Also, lets be real. If you can’t get high on your own supply, then why do it?

How do you stay positive?
My family. My very hardworking wife. My newborn daughter. My incredibly creative stepdaughter. My ride or die friends. Continuing to create every day.

Any last words or final message for the readers?
I just want to say THANK YOU for checking out our music. It means so much to us. Stay safe and stay posi!
