Cardiff-based rock trio, Feverjaw, has a new EP coming out next month titled Casual Abrasive. Leading up to the release of the EP, the band’s very own Dale Hawkins (vocalist/guitarist), took some time recently to talk about the EP, his favorite albums, and more! Casual Abrasive will be available everywhere April 1st!

Congratulations on the announcement of Casual Abrasive! What does the EP mean to you?
Thank you! It's the first release we have planned for a year of music we have mapped out that will see plenty more to follow as the year unfolds. With this EP we wanted to embrace a more gritty and angrier side of us. While writing these songs I listened to a lot of bands in the hardcore, American punk realm. And while I don't think we have gone the full way over to that genre it's certainly influenced our approach to these songs. Having them fuse with our regular British Alt Rock stylings has made to our ears, an exciting mix!

What’s your favorite song off the EP?
Picking favourites among your songs is always a hard thing to do, they all mean so much to us. It's a two-way tie I think between “Midsommar” and “Free Fire”. Both tracks feature guest spots from artists we have the deepest respect for and also were mastered at the legendary Abbey Road which means they'll always retain a place in our hearts.

If you could change one thing in the music industry, what would it be?
Wow, that's a deep question - And one that could be discussed at length! To put it simply I would just want the industry to be equal to all. Let it be about whether a song is good or not. Let's not have things be about age, sex, beliefs, or agenda.

What is your favorite album of all time?
Impossible question! Some of my favourites? Nirvana 'In Utero', Smashing Pumpkins 'Mellon Collie', Pearl Jam 'Vs', Placebo 'Without You...', Foo Fighters 'Colour & The Shape', QOTSA 'Songs for the Deaf', Silverchair 'Neon Ballroom' among many others.

What is one artist or band that you haven’t seen in concert, that you hope to see someday?
Fleetwood Mac, with Lindsay. Not without.

We all have our days where it may not be going as well as we’d like. People deal with their worst days in different ways. What helps you get through the bad days? How do you stay positive?
It can be tough. But if I'm having a rough day, I try to find something that fills me with warmth or positivity. Whether that's a song, a film or a conversation with a friend or family.

Thank you for taking the time for this Q&A. Any last words or final message for the readers?
Thank you for taking the time to read this. And if you check us out as a result, we hope you enjoy!
