Music Q&A with Hazy Shea

If you’re a fan of Bille Eilish, you might end up becoming a fan of Hazy Shea! Hazy has only released singles, but with more tunes on the way! In this Q&A, she talked about the music she has released so far, Lana Del Rey, and more!

You’ve put out a few singles since 2021. What is your favorite song you’ve released, and why?
My favorite song I’ve put out so far is “Messed Up”. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but this one stands out to me because of its contrast with my previous releases like “Forever 21,” which are more light-hearted and upbeat. “Messed Up” allowed me to explore a darker, angstier sound that represents a grungy departure from my other songs.

When did you realize you wanted to create music?
I’ve felt a connection to music for as long as I can remember, but I began to see my potential as an artist around age 17 when I started freestyling with my friends. This led to me writing my first song, which I recorded in my friend’s closet.

Who has been your favorite artist or band to see live?
My favorite live performance was Lana Del Rey in 2017 when I attended Camp Flog Gnaw Festival. Thanks to some strangers who helped lift me over the fence, I managed to sneak into the VIP section and got to see the performance up close, which was an amazing experience because Lana was my favorite artist at the time.

What instrument do you not play that you hope to learn someday?
I’d love to get better at the drums. My friend Benzo Yungins is an amazing drummer. I always mess around on breaks during rehearsal, and he gives me pointers.

We all have our days where it may not be going as well as we’d like. People deal with their worst days in different ways. What helps you get through the bad days? How do you stay positive?
When I’m having a bad day, I try to take it easy and recharge, whether it’s by hanging out with friends and family or just relaxing and watching a movie on my own. Having some downtime helps re-energize me and get my motivation back.

Thank you for taking the time for this Q&A. Any last words or final message for the readers?
Thank you for interviewing me and keeping up with my journey! In June, I’m going to be releasing a new song and video with Interscope artist Jae Lynx which I’m really excited about. I think you guys will like it, especially if you’re fans of Euphoria :)
