Music Q&A with OSLO
Great Places is the debut album of OSLO, which is the brainchild of musician/songwriter/producer, TJ Horansky. With the release of the album last month, TJ recently took some time to talk about the album, what he would change about the industry if he could, and more!
Congratulations on the release of Great Places! What is your favorite song off the album?
I really love the song, “Blood Moon”. It’s dynamic and captures a lot of the atmosphere that I wanted to achieve with this album.
What is one thing you did during the recording process of this album that was new to you that you would like to carry into the future when recording more music?
A big thing for me is I tend to overthink while recording. It was hard to keep perspective since I wrote and recorded everything myself in isolation. I think I learned to trust my gut more and not dwell too much on the small details.
If you could change one thing in the music industry, what would it be?
Some labels take advantage of younger artists when they are just starting out. I would like to see more deals that better help set up young artists for success.
What is one artist or band that you haven’t seen in concert, that you hope to see someday?
Olafur Arnalds
What's the best piece of advice another musician ever gave you?
Stay humble and show appreciation to everyone involved with your success.
We all have our days where it may not be going as well as we’d like. People deal with their worst days in different ways. What helps you get through the bad days? How do you stay positive?
Physical activity can really help on those bad days. Also being conscious of my diet, how much coffee and alcohol I’m consuming, getting enough sleep, etc.
Thank you for taking the time for this Q&A. Any last words or final message for the readers?
Thank you for having me! If you are feeling isolated, overwhelmed, anxious or whatever, you're absolutely not alone in feeling that way. Finding someone to talk to has always helped through those times.
