Video: Voluntary Hazing - Skemsco

San Jose, 12-piece ska band, Voluntary Hazing, has spent some time writing new music and they just released a new song titled “Skemsco”!

“So what exactly is ‘Skemsco’? It’s an emotional, dancey alt rock song with thick, colorful horn parts,” says vocalist Kayla Renelle. “Lyrically, the song explores coming to terms with personal shortcomings and disappointment, and achieving a sense of freedom when finally accepting one’s own imperfections. Sonically, “Skemsco” is influenced by three vastly different genres we love: Ska+emo+disco (hence our made-up word “Skemsco”).”

More music can be expected in the future from the ska band…by the way, the solo in the bridge is actually a violin.
