Episode 45 - Jamie Rocha (Tour Manager/Social Media Manager)

The guest for episode 45 of The Keep It Posi Podcast is Jamie Rocha. Jamie and I met through the music scene in L.A. She works with punk and ska bands as social media manager and tour manager, which she hopes to get back to as soon as tours resume. In this conversation, we talked about how her love for ska was born, how her parents influenced her eclectic taste in music, how she got involved in the music scene, and more.

This week, The Posi Spotlight is focused on Native Justice Coalition. In 2019, they launched the MMIWG2S Program. The MMIWG2S abbreviation stands for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People. This program addresses ongoing violence and continued genocide that affects Native women, girls, and Two-Spirits across the US and Canada. In May 2019, a 1,200 page report from Canada was released on the National Inquiry on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG). It includes over 230 recommendations and concluded that the murder and disappearance of Indigenous women and girls is an ongoing genocide. The Native Justice Coalition is starting with this first step to create awareness in our communities.
