Show Review: Together Pangea Deliver Some Good Times at The Observatory

Thursday, June 2nd was an indie punk rock party at The Observatory in Santa Ana! And it definitely wasn’t a bad way to start the month. Santa Clarita’s Together Pangea headlined The Observatory and joining them for the party were L.A.’s very own The Paranoyds and Death Lens.
Being that all the bands were local and are known in the Southern California music scene, it was no surprise that the crowd would be energetic from the beginning. Hardcore band, Death Lens brought some energy of their own and as soon as the first song dropped, the crowd did not hesitate to open up the pit and did not slow down throughout the rest of the set. Towards the end of the performance, the band even went into the crowd, but not all at once. First we had the vocalist join the crowd followed by the two guitarists where they both shredded and the crowd was just all about it!
Following Death Lens, were The Paranoyds. It was not my first time seeing the band play, but this time around, I got to see them in a smaller setting. The Paranoyds kept the crowd going and at one point, a fan joined them on stage to sing a song with them!
Finally, we have Together Pangea. As expected, the crowd was all about it from the very first song. Second song in, there were fans already crowdsurfing. At one point during the set, there was a fan who managed to stage dive and if you’ve been to The Observatory, you’re probably thinking ‘how would security even allow that??’ Honestly, I asked myself the same thing because it all happened very fast, BUT that didn’t stop anyone in the band or in the crowd from continuing to have a great time!
Some fan favorites that Together Pangea performed throughout the night were “Nervous”, “Nothing To Hide”, “Offer”, “Love & Alcohol”, “Rapture”, “Sick Shit”, and “Night Of The Living Dummy” which ended leading into a snippet of The Cranberries’ “Zombie”! Fans couldn’t get enough during the set, so for the encore, Together Pangea, performed two more songs: “Alive” and “Gates of Heaven”. There was headbanging and crowdsurfing until the very last note.
Together Pangea is starting their tour in Germany TOMORROW, June 10th, so if they’re coming to a town near you, do yourself a favor and go to a gig! You won’t regret it.
