Around 20 years ago, I was in middle school. That’s around the time I was learning about pop punk bands like a lot of other kids my age. Looking back, who knew that 20 years later, Sum 41 and Simple Plan would do a co-headlining tour!! It all makes sense now that we are all grown up!
Sum 41 and Simple Plan are currently on the second leg of The Blame Canada Tour and opening up the shows is pop punk band, Magnolia Park! As expected, Sum 41 and Simple Plan have been playing bangers from their discography, but what also makes this tour special is that the bands are celebrating their releases from 2002: All Killer No Filler by Sum 41 and No Pads, No Helmets…Just Balls by Simple Plan!
The bands threw two parties at House of Blues in Anaheim on this tour. Sunday, August 7th marked the second party. Sum 41 closed the night and aside from them playing “Motivation”, “Fat Lip”, and “In Too Deep” off All Killer No Filler, the band also played other fan favorites such as “We’re All To Blame”, “Pieces”, “The Hell Song”, and “Still Waiting”. Oh and we also got treated to a cover of Queen’s “We Will Rock You”! Simple Plan treated us to “I’d Do Anything”, “The Worst Day Ever”, “Addicted”, “I’m Just A Kid”, and “Perfect” off No Pads, No Helmets…Just Balls. Additionally, the band also played songs off their new album, Harder Than It Looks. Some of those songs included “Wake Me Up (When This Nightmare's Over)” and “Iconic”. They also surprised us with a medley of covers, which included “All Star” by Smash Mouth, “Sk8er Boi” by Avril Lavigne, and “Mr. Brightside” by The Killers!
All around, it was a fun show and it reminded me to never let go of my youth. If this tour is making a stop in your town and you have been a fan of either band at any point, you should totally go! For tour dates, tickets, and other information, you can go to sum41.com or officialsimpleplan.com.
