Music Q&A with Randy Moore and Alyssa Moore of The Moore Family Band
In late 2020, alternative trio, The Moore Family Band, dropped their debut album, Missy, via Asian Man Records. Today, they have released a new single (again through Asian Man Records) titled “Tired of Being Tired” and it features Alkaline Trio’s Dan Andriano! Ahead of the release, siblings Randy Moore and Alyssa Moore, took some time to answer questions about the new song, their favorite band to see live, and more!
Congratulations on the release of “Tired of Being Tired”! It might sound weird considering the title and theme of the song. What specific moment did you experience that led to the creation of this song?
Randy Moore: Thanks so much! I had the phrase "tired of being tired" rolling around my head for a while. Life can be overwhelming, especially the last couple of years. So it’s just another way of saying "I’m over it."
Alyssa Moore: Thank you! The phrase "I'm tired of being tired" has always been something I've said when I hit a wall. When we decided to write this I took lots of inspiration from those moments to get the right energy and lyrics for the song.
Dan Andriano of Alkaline Trio took part in “Tired of Being Tired”. How did that collaboration come about? What was that experience like?
RM: Dylan and I got in touch with him through Mike Park. We got in the studio and recorded Dear Darkness with him for Dan Andriano & The Bygones. After that session, I wrote that song and thought he could do some cool stuff on it. I sent it to him and what he sent back totally blew me away.
Who has been your favorite artist or band to see live?
RM: Twenty One Pilots. Don’t hate.
AM: PUP was an insane band to see. Their energy and stage presence was like nothing I had ever seen before. I definitely used what I saw during my first show with The Moore Family Band.
What instrument do you not play that you hope to learn someday?
RM: I wanna get really good at piano.
AM: I want to fully learn the guitar. I've tried here and there, but never had the time to fully commit.
If you could change one thing in the music industry, what would it be?
RM: Changing the cost per stream would be nice, haha.
AM: More recognition for smaller artists and more ways to share their music. I'm always really happy to see bands I've loved for years getting big because one of their songs takes off on social media. If we could get more of that, so much more music can be discovered.
What's the best piece of advice another musician ever gave you?
RM: "Just have fun." –Mike Park
AM: "Let’s just go up there and have fun and kill it." –The whole band before our first show
Thank you for taking the time for this Q&A. Any last words or final message for the readers?
RM: Thank you so much for having us on and always supporting us! Keep It Posi!!!
AM: Thank you for all the support you've given us!! We can’t wait to make more music for you!!
